SR 736 SR 742

Also known as the U.S. 41 Business Route for the northernmost six miles (10 km) of its route, State Road 739 is a 14-mile-long commercial highway for Fort Myers, Florida.

The southern terminus of SR 739 is an intersection with Six Mile Cypress Parkway (SR 865) near Villas. State Road 739 follows Metro Parkway and travels northward, and then goes westward on Hanson Street, where Metro Parkway ends. SR 739 then turns northward on Fowler Street, and at the intersection with SR 82, it splits into two one-way roads, with southbound traffic using Fowler Street, and northbound traffic turning east on SR 82 for one block and then continuing north on Evans Avenue, which then becomes Park Avenue.

At the intersection with SR 80, it becomes concurrent with U.S. 41 Business Route, and S.R. 739 becomes a hidden designation from this point north. It then crosses the Caloosahatchee River on the Edison Bridge, where the two one-way roads rejoin each other.

North of the Edison Bridge, SR 739 and the U.S. 41 Business Route continue as a part of the Tamiami Trail, which rejoins mainline US 41-SR 45 just outside Cape Coral.

Extension

An extension of SR 739 is currently under construction. This extension will take it from its current southern terminus at SR 865, and extend it nearly three miles to US 41 in San Carlos Park. The new portion of SR 739 will also have an interchange with Alico Road just north US 41. The extension is set for completion in early 2012.
